Trains to Sydenham and Forest Hill on New Years Eve

Unlike every year since the introduction of Overground, there will be no trains after 00:30 on the night of New Year's Eve / New Year's Day. Trains will run according to the night service which terminates at New Cross Gate.

I have written to Len Duvall and Ellie Reeve, both of whom have agreed to write to TfL about this situation.

The 24 hour underground services should not mean that Forest Hill and Sydenham get cuts to their late night services for New Year's Eve.

Cutting those services seems very unreasonable of TFL. Have they given any reason?

This is ridiculous, even Tramlink have services until 4.30am New Year’s Day.

Unfortunately it is not possible for ARL to operate services south of New Cross Gate this year, however they intend to reinstate services next year.

ARL have faced challenges in securing a sufficient number of volunteer drivers, despite generous offers of overtime and time off in lieu. As such they have focussed resources towards delivering services on routes with the highest volumes of passengers and towards supporting robust start-up of services on New Year’s Day.

Totally ambiguous weasel words received today from TfL.

Has anyone heard of any material change to our services on New Year's Eve ?

Dear Mr Doherty,

On New Year’s Eve, customers will be able to enjoy TfL public transport through the night and travel for free between 23:45 and 04:30.

Travel will be free on bus, Tube, Tram, DLR, London Overground, and TfL Rail services. Many of these services will run later than usual with replacement buses running in some cases, and central London is expected to be busy so remember to plan ahead before you travel.
