The former director of education at the National Gallery and author of A Time and a Place: Near Sydenham Hill gives a talk on Camille Pissarro, the French impressionist painter, who lived briefly in Norwood in 1870–71. He painted many local landmarks in Dulwich and Norwood, but his most famous painting is The Avenue, which includes St Bartholomew’s Church in Sydenham, the beautiful venue for this event.
