Sydenham's New Rising Star - Featured on The Brits

Post by britsyd »

The real BRITS winner!

Jessie J makes dream come true for London’s soon-to-be starlet, Sarah McMullan.
Singer/songwriter and music student Sarah McMullan (aka Sarah Mac) from Sydenham, made an unexpected splash appearance at the Brits last night by appearing with pop star Jessie J in the back of a limo – during the ad breaks – performing a surprise duet.

Waking up this morning Sarah’s YouTube hits have shot through the roof and she is still reeling from not just the limo experience, but having been invited to Brits.
Sarah was picked by MasterCard to star in their ‘win a priceless duet’ contest after they discovered her on YouTube singing Jessie J songs.

Sarah – on her Jessie J/Mastercard experience
“A few weeks ago I was approached via YouTube to star in an online advert for MasterCard. I was told it would be a documentary for girl’s nights out in London. I thought it would be fun so I agreed. A few days later I got to the shoot and was told to pick a song to sing and I chose Domino by Jessie J. Little did I know she was going to surprise me and sing with me! This was such an overwhelming experience for me as Jessie J has been such an influence and inspiration for my own songwriting over the past three years. It was so amazing to have this happen to me because music is such an important aspect of my life. I wanted to start my career in music a few years ago but had to put everything on hold when my Dad was involved in a motorbike accident abroad which has left him brain damaged and I now have to stay home and help my Mum to look after him. My Dad can’t comprehend everything that’s happening, but what he does understand is how proud he feels of me and of everything that I’ve achieved through the help of MasterCard"

Sarah – on studying at the British Academy of New Music (Access To Music) in London. Also home to BRIT AWARD winner Ed Sheeran.
“Studying at the British Academy of New Music has been so great, my course has taught me everything I want to know about the music industry and more. The tutors are amazing and help in every which way they can. I hope I can follow in BANM alumni's footsteps such as Vanessa White, Ed Sheeran and more… ”

Sarah has also recently collaborated with new channel, Band Vault TV, performing her latest track "Sometimes" exclusively for Band Vault.
