I hesitate before offering a further gushing entry for Pseuds' Corner, but I feel that I mustn't let the fear of public ridicule deter me from recording how magnificent the Katherine Jenkins solo cello recital was last night. I've never heard such a beautiful sound from a cello; rich and complex, with a wonderful contrast between the power and resonance of the lower register and the purity of the upper. Comment was made about the excellent acoustics of St Philip the Apostle' s church, which no doubt contributed to this ; it would be a great venue for chamber music. And (Sydenham's own) Katherine Jenkins' technique, and the way in which she made her cello sing like a human voice, was totally spell-binding.
More soon, please.
