Do Conservative education policies do anything for you?

I can't help noticing the thread about Haseltine School in Town Hall http://sydenham.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=36577 - and I have to wonder if anyone takes Conservative manifesto promises seriously

So the Conservatives will:

Create a new generation of independently run state schools. We will make it much easier for educational charities, groups of parents and teachers, cooperatives and others to start new Academies (independent, non-selective state schools).
