I have an interesting hypothesis: I believe most of Deptford and Greenwich was under water during the Roman period of British history, with Watling Street running along the shoreline! That means the temple discovered on high ground in Greenwich Park (nearest Roman building site to Sydenham and Lewisham) must have been quite close to the shore, with the roman road running parallel just slightly south.
