hello all,

thanks
ikea near sydenham
Croydon (Purley Way) is the closest IKEA - you can get there by train to one of the Croydon statiions and then get the tram (to Ampere Way which is just across the road from IKEA).
There is also a Matalan in the vicinity - which is very close to IKEA as the crow flies but a bit of a hike on foot, maybe half a mile.

Ikea have a delivery service which is £30 from Purley to Sydenham - useful if you end up unexpectedly ordering large pieces of furniture - they will usually deliver on the day if you want (we had popped in one sunday, bought some flatpacks and the delivery arrived from Ikea 15 mins after we got back from ikea) but can do next day service too I think. We've also had a delivery booked for other furniture and were able to book a Saturday delivery - very efficient service - they ring to confirm the date, and send a text too. and then on the day of the delivery, the driver calls to say he is on his way in x minutes. And they took real good care when bringing the flat-packed stuff into our hallway (they didn't want to put any marks on our walls!)
