foul-beaked parakeets.
Anybody have any thoughts on the gangs of parakeets charging about local skies swearing at each-other...?
Did anyone else see the Evening Standard last week on "Open Season for Parakeets"? It was probably in the Mail as the articles are written by the same journalists....

Their protective species status will be lifted in January, so we'll be able to shoot them if we see them attacking smaller birds in our gardens! What was also interesting was that they were believed to have been released into London Skies during the filming of "The African Queen" in 1951.
"They are as British as Curry" great quote!

They're really difficult to hit as well. I only got 3 with my air rifle yesterday.

They are quite intelligent [by all accounts]
Thanks for the photos...
Do I know you...Does who know who? Eh?
Displacing pigeons? Well, maybe the scruffy variety...But, coo, I quite like wood pigeons [although they will never be accepted by MENSA].
Open season on parakeets? Maybe.
How about grey [maybe that should be gray ...note US spell-check!!] squirrels? Nasty little critters. Cute?
Don't make me laugh. Tree-rat vermin, beady-eyed little yank invaders!
Ugh!
Perhaps they could be partially responsible for the general disappearance of a really cute native...the London house sparrow?
