Concert at St George's Church, Woolstone Road

Post by sharonflute77 »

Have you ever wondered what 14 flutes playing together would sound like? Or 4 violas? Or, perhaps unbelievably, 18 double reed instruments? Then come to They’re all the same! - a concert featuring groups that are made up of the same instrument.

This concert is part of a series of concerts taking place across the boroughs of Lewisham, Southwark and Bromley.

This concert features Opal Flutes, Ferndene Saxophones and the Meantime Viola Quartet, as well as some trombones, some percussion and of course the Double Reed Band. Music to be performed includes Flute Dances (re-written for violas), a spooky flute version of Danse Macabre, music by Mancini, two unmissable world premieres written and performed by the trombonists, an amazing Percy Grainger piece for 18 winds and some saxophones in a breathtaking 'Lone Ar-rangement' that has to be heard to be believed!

The concert is at St George's Church, Woolstone Road, Catford SE23 2AG on Saturday 26th September at 7.30pm. All tickets are £5. We hope to see you there!
