The finale of the Sydenham Arts Festival is a Family picnic in Mayow Park with various entertainers and free activities planned: (taken from the SAF website www.sydenhamartsfestival.com/1020.html )
1.00pm: Crystal Palace Band. South London's Premier Brass Band.
2.00pm: Mayor Of Lewisham & Poetry by S.A.F. poet in residence, Gale Burns, and friends - reading their own work, including a newly created, festival poem.
2.30pm: Children’s Theatre: The Quarter Too Ensemble. An adventure into the woods with the inter-galactic super-hero storytellers Chicken-Head and Cow-Face! Put your tongue firmly in your cheek as they use their powers to tell, in their own unique way, the classic story of Goldilocks and The Three Bears.
3.00pm: Live music.
4.00pm: Salsa Line Dancing workshop – with William Dash.
4.45pm: Music: Randolph Mathews. “Future Folk”: a fusion of Neo/Afro Soul, Acoustic Folk and Blues. And “Heart Music”: fusing phonetic language, vocal percussion, sounds and instruments.
5.30pm: Lewisham Youth Choir - a medley of songs about London.
Art: We invite you and your children to make and bring along an art object, based around the theme ‘Summer Garden’, to join our ‘butterflies’ on display. A slug? A sunflower? Anything! You can make it out of recycled objects if you like. There will be opportunities throughout the day to create something at the Park as well.
FOMP will have an information stall on the day - why not come and say hello?
SA Festival - Picnic in Mayow Park: Sunday 1-6pm
Just a bump to say today is FINAL DAY and a chance to all meet up here. Also a chance to complete the Visual Arts Trail. We did the picture exhibition at Forest Hill Library and the Havelock Walk Open Studios. Well worth it!

Story tellers
Hi,
Went to the Picnic-in-the-Park on 12 July and had a great time. We were mainly interested in the children's activities and they didn't disappoint! The organisers did a great job and children really had fun! Could anyone please help me find some contact details for the storytellers Chicken-Head and Cow-Face and also for the Medieval Puppet Show. I've recommended them for another event organised by an environmental charity but I can't find any contact details. I still have the Festival's programme but the Medieval Puppet Show is not even mentioned there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They must have put the wrong banner up on the park fence the other day as it was advertising some funfair in Beckenham??
They must have changed it in the last day or so, as there is now a banner for a funfair in Mayow Park from today through to Sunday 9th August.
This morning it looked more like a mini-funfair for little people unless more rides are being delivered today/tomorrow. Better than nothing I guess.
