I posted this as it would appear not to be an isolated instance. A clergyman (not the one involved here) had already raised concern at a large number of non-UK EU nationals trying to arrange ceromonies to non-EU nationals at his Sydenham Church in suspicious circumstances. I might add that this clergyman is normally a liberal softy so I guess it must be serious.
Clergy might not be the best at spotting fake passports and it creates an atmosphere of suspicion that can impact on genuine couples.
