Belly Dancing

Post by Nickerbockers »

Hi, can anyone advise about local belly dancing classes, preferably for beginners, but alternatively just for all-levels. I've looked online over and over, and found nothing locally. I just wondered if there's any little classes held in a hall somewhere that I wouldn't find on the Internet? I don't drive, so can't go too far so Sydenham, Forest Hill, Penge etc would be best.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have a friend who lives in Syd who goes to one. I have emailed her to ask where it is.

Thank you Savvy, that's really helpful. I'll look forward to hearing what your friend says.

They're at Kirkdale Learning Centre on Kirkdale, just past the Fox pub. Monday evenings (not sure of time) and Tuesday mornings (10.00-11.00). This term finishes in July and the next one isn't till September. I don't have a phone number so you might as well just call in, tonight if you get this messge in time. You might be able to join now perhaps? I don't know what the rules are about taking the place of someone who's left - there is sure to be someone. The number will be in the phone book.
Good Luck.

Does anyone know where they hold rocknroll dances?

Before I moved here, I used to go dancing during the week at the local pub in Caterham (www.rocknroll.vc) - £5 to get in, £5 for a couple of drinks and bobs-your-uncle, I could dance, chat, exercise (and flirt if I wanted!!) all night long for £10.

Absolutely fantastic way to spend an evening, especially when I had already spent a lazy hour or so getting myself all togged up to the nines!

I'd love to get back into it.

Thanks

I'm hoping to move in to the area next year and I might teach a belly dance class myself if theres enough interest. I teach a style called american tribal style which is a mix of flamenco and arabic dance styles.
