Not sure whether to put this on the end of the thread about Sydenham Parks or trees, so how about a new thread?
Anyway, Friends of Mayow Park have got Sean MacBride, one of Lewisham's arboriculturists, to do a guided tour of the trees in Mayow Park, meeting by the bowls pavillion, 9.30 a.m., Saturday May 31. I have an old plan of the park with different numbers for trees of different species, but no legend to match them up. The numbers go up to 54, but I've only worked out 20 so far. There are also numbers on some of the trees, which relate to some other system. I feel another google mapping project coming up ...
After the tree there will be another guided visit, led by Lewisham's Jessica Rushton, of the Dacres Wood Nature Reserve. This should also also be of interest to the Croydon Canal mavens.
