Post Office - Lucky Sydenham?

Three more Lewisham Post Offices were today earmarked for closure this Autumn (Hither Green Lane, Lee and New Cross Road). The Mayor is issuing condemnations but I guess there is not a lot he can do about it. He would be very brave to follow the Essex example.

Whereas we in Sydenham still have one of the finest Post Offices around - and are well banked when you compare us with, say, Forest Hill. Will Sydenham soon to become the financial capital of Lewisham or is it just a matter of time for the PO to find a retail outlet they can squeeze a counter into? Maybe its lucky we don't have a WH Smith like Bromley & Forest Hill!

Sydenham will close eventually it's only a matter of time.. tick tock..

If they can close the post office in New Cross that services far more people they'll have no problem closing Sydenham.

Use it ..or lose it.... has been the expression for some time. Maybe, looking at the queues, Forest Hill residents are appreciating the benefit of a local dedicated Post Office and have migrated to Sydenham for the personal service we all think should be available but as we well are aware our local queues have been getting longer......
