Hello,
I am set to move from East Dulwich to Lower Sydenham in the next few weeks.
I was wondering what the train service from Lower Sydenham to Charing X is like?
Also, is there anyone who travels to Elephant & Castle and knows a direct route?
Thanks, any help will be much appreciated.
Question: Lower Sydenham Station
Hi Jockey,
I use Lower Sydenham station in the mornings alot to get directly into Charing Cross, even though I live about the same distance from Sydenham station, because it is so convenient - right into the centre of town without having to negotiate London Bridge in the morning.
The trains are always on time - rarely even a minute late. I think only once in 2 and a half years have I turned up there to find the train cancelled. The only thing you have to watch is that bad weather, such as snow, can really affect the line because it comes up from Kent where it is always worse. Any sign of snow and I use Sydenham station instead.
I always get a seat, although I've noticed the station getting much busier over the past two years. The train I usually get only stops at Catford Bridge and Ladywell and is then fast all the way to Waterloo East. Some of them stop at London Bridge too.
All in all I would say that using Lower Sydenham Station has reduced my morning commute stress levels by about 80%.
On the down side, the location is not very picturesque and I try not to use it alone late at night.
Hope that helps!
Liz
