What is going on with crime in Sydenham
A couple of months ago my brothers car was set on fire (with petrol) just by Alexandra Park (on a Sunday night . Monday morning 00.45 approx)
The fire quickly spread and the houses and surrounding garages would have been burnt if was left unattended for few minutes more. The car was moved recently before that so it didn't look 'dumped'.
Also just after midnight on Sun 30th March 2008 (early on Monday 31st) my neighbour's shed was set on fire and the house also started to catch on fire.
The firemen on the scene said 3 or 4 fires were going on at the same time in the local area.
A Police woman who came later that night mentioned there are fires going on nearly every night.
A few months before (Dec 31st 07 i think) - 4 or 5 cars had their windows smashed in on Trewsbury Rd / Cator Road not to mention muggings etc going on.
I've lived in Sydenham most of my life, there has always been some trouble but now it is becoming too regular for my liking.
Also these seem like random attacks with no regard for personal property or even human life!
I had a quick search in the forum, and saw the post about car fires with this news link:

has anyone else been seeing fires recently in the area (either cars or property) or know if anything is being done to apprehend these individuals?
Related to this:
Doing something about it
Are there any activities / clubs / events in the local area for young people to enjoy themselves if bored?
Interestingly just seen this new post about games helping youngsters steer away from crime in Newshopper:
