This is a scheme for the over 70s and people in receipt of certain benefits. I hadn't heard of the scheme until I read it in the papers yesterday. Here is a link:

I checked the British Gas website for more information but it doesn't mention the over 70s. Perhaps they haven't updated it yet, or perhaps they don't want people to know! (oh cynical me!)
Worth checking out I would say so spread the word!

There are measures and grants available for everyone to insulate your home.
Some people will get this done for free others may have to pay towards it but will still get a discount. Some grants varies from council to council other measures are available countrywide.

I's great in theory that the council offers subsidies towards insulation, but I called them in September to register for the Warmzone scheme, and again a couple of weeks later to follow-up, and was told i was on the list for this and a contractor would call me about a quote, but four months later still haven't heard anything! Not sure whether this is the fault of the contractor or the council, but the scheme doesn;t seem to be running too smoothly at the moment!
