Crystal Palace Farm
Crystal Palace Farm
I went for a walk at lunchtime in Crystal Palace Park and noticed a lot of activity around the Farm area. Work is well underway, so I was wondering if anyone knows when it will finally be open? I know they have missed the first deadline, and I can find no information by Googling.
Does anyone have any up-to-date info?
Thanks in advance

Yes. I do.Does anyone have any up-to-date info?
I was in the park on Saturday (26th) and we walked past the farm when we noticed two Shetland ponies there. Intrigued we went investigating and some of the Chapel Farm folks were there. They (very kindly and generously) told us that they were basically ready to open. They are just waiting for the go-ahead / license from the council. They're hoping that will happen before the end of February.
There are already lots of animals there including a large brown goat, the two Shetlands, rabbits, pigs, guinea pigs? and others that I forget now. They're even planning to have a reptile room with a tarantula and such.
I'm unnaturally excited that this could be opening soon. My kids love going to Crystal Palace and a petting farm will send them wild (hopefully not too literally)!

When the Licence is granted there will be a "soft opening" of the farm.
There will be no great fanfare and opening ceremony just the opportunity for members of the public to go round during Capel's planned opening hours. This enables the animals to get used to people invading their space, so to speak.
The formal opening is planned for Easter

May I suggest if you are not interested in issues on your doorstep, because they are under the control of a different Authority, that you must lead a very insular life.zac hunter wrote:why is this being discussed here its not in sydenham wyh should we be interested its not a sydenham matter
May I also suggest, if a posting holds no interest for you, then don't reply.

I thought the same thing when I informed a local council/community meeting about a spate of attacks on women in a local park during last December but the subject was quickly shot down quickly because the park in question was a few feet outside the boundary of Sydenham. Suprisingly it was shot down by a police representative and a leading light from the Sydenham society.May I suggest if you are not interested in issues on your doorstep, because they are under the control of a different Authority, that you must lead a very insular life.
Even if things are just on the doorstep then I think residents should be informed, especially when people are at risk. The message I took from that meeting was that some local people just want to know about local matters only within the boundary.
Maybe a fence should be erected on the boundary line and we shouldn't venture out of Sydenham.
