Comments about 'vile kids' on forums

Do you get fed up of these?

People posting about cafes and places over run with parents and pretty nasty comments about parents out with their children in public spaces or a cafe?

Just wondered what people think? Have you ever had a bad comment when you have been out?

Well, sure, if I read the phrase "vile kids" I'd get annoyed: kids are kids and generally can't help how they behave.
But I'm often amazed at how laissez-faire other parents are with their children in pubs and cafes.

I went to the Ivy House pub in Nunhead one Saturday afternoon with my son and felt a little embarrassed to be there as a parent with kid in tow. It really was totally overrun with children, which isn't really what you want from a pub. The poor waiting staff trying to deliver food and drinks to tables had to be acrobats to avoid all the kids running around, crashing into their legs etc. The kids outnumbered the adults by about 10-1 (at least, it certainly felt that way). The whole atmosphere quite stressful and unpleasant. We didn't stay long.

Had a similar experience with the Folk Of The Woods regular events. On paper, they're great: a monthly, child-friendly live music gig during the afternoon, with lots of acoustic bands and dancing. In practice they're pretty hellish: a melee of families packed in like sardines fighting for buggy space, the music a total irrelevance given all the noise, no room to breathe.

We have tickets for Big Fish Little Fish at Zanzibar next month. Interested to see inside that place. Will report back!
