Sydenham Station Gates

Post by Cathy »

Anyone know why they were locked this morning? Did not have time to read the notice as was late and had to run for the train  Thought they were meant to be kept open...just curious

Gates are closed today and tomorrow for "maintenance" apparently.

Talking of the side entrance, does anyone know what was happening round there this morning? Loads of police cars/vans and a dustman in cuffs...

It was all going off there at about 7am, apparantly.

By the time I got there at 7-20 it was all over.

By all accounts it involved a number of people, and a bloke with a baseball bat; someone I work with witnessed it as he crossed the footbridge, but all he saw was 'handbags at dawn'.

Maybe it was something to do with the smokers who stand at the gate every morning, getting their fill of carbon monoxide, prior to entering the station.

Hopefully someone will have a more detailed idea of what happened, and will post it this evening when they get back from work.

I never use that gate but i do feel sorry for pelple who do and have to cross the bridge to buy a ticket. I dont see why Southern can't put a machine on that side and another on the Silverdale side. I keep missing trains because i get stuck behind people who either don't know how to use it or are paying with 5p coins
