In "Sydenham and Forest Hill Past", this photo is captioned as the Manor House, but the original caption identifies it as Perry Hill House! Which caption is at error or was Perry Hill House an AKA for the Manor House?

It has long been claimed that the caption to this engraving is wrong, and that it is, in fact, the Manor House. If it was Perry Hill House, it is difficult to make out where the artist was standing to give such a view. Maps show the prominent bow window of the Manor House, on the south eastern corner, but there is no similar feature on Perry Hill House. Perry Hill House was a school almost continuously from 1826 until 1864, and was unlikely to have been a country "seat" during that time. And the picture of the Manor House you uploaded recently in the <Old Farms in Sydenham> thread, which proved that the Manor House had livestock, also seems to prove that the prominent bow window was part of it. Even the fence is in the same position.
