Sydenham High Street

Post by multisync »

Many people pass comment about the amount of pound shops, the clothes shops BMC the Dolphin and supermarkets in the High Street.Have you been to Forest Hill lately,Sainsbury have the monopoly, they have the worst Boots in the area W>H>Smith is quite awful now,but what will happen when the P.O takes over the upper floor?
Think we are lucky compared with that!

Forest Hill has a tiny high street compared to Sydenham, I don't think you can compare them. Some high streets are used because they are destinations, some are used because they are local and you 'can pick up a few things' there.

Sydenham's high street has to evolve (as all high streets do). They have to offer a REASON to go there and cater for all wage brackets. It's slowly happening, but overall it still have a long long way to go.

We need to encourage shops that people want in the high street.

So here is a serious question, what shop would you like to see in the high street? It could be an individual local store or a chain. What do people want?

Becasue if I was thinking of investing in a business in Sydenham, that's what I would really like to know.

Waitrose would be superb but the only improvments I reckon we can look forward to in the short-term are £2 shops......
