YOUTUBE HOOLIGANS!

Post by goonerchamp »

Having noticed the link regarding the Greyhound I decided to have a search on you tube for "Sydenham" - anyway to cut a long story short I have found the following - which I'm not mistaken - shows youths jumping on cars around the back of the Petrol Station on Kirkdale - has anyone had damage to their car in that area ?? - this could be the guilty party

if only all crims videoed themselves then put it on the internet hey !!!!!

Cheers

I am concerned that showing crimes being committed is inappropriate in the Forum. Sure if it can help the victims/police pursue the hooligans - but on the otherhand the videos are posted for publicity so should we oblige?

Difficult one. Your views please.

I used to be a member of Virtual Norwood where they absolutely ban any discussion of crime. I don't believe the claim that it prejudices ongoing investigations though and it can actually, like in this case, potentially assist in getting a criminal caught.

These communities should be able to help each other and I think it is useful to discuss crime in a reasonable way. Inappropriate comments should be vetted as per normal but seeing something like this raises local issues and the idea that we can't discuss it doesn't seem reasonable.

I think it is appropriate to link to this video. The first step to eliminating anti social behaviour is for the community to be aware of what is happening. I don't believe that anything changes by ignoring it and pretending it doesn't exist.
These kids haven't posted the video on youtube in order to get publicity - just to share it with each other. If they are stupid enough not to realise that anyone can view it, including the property owners and/or the authorities that is thier look out.
I hope that one of our councillors views this video and makes mention of it to the chief constable next time they are talking about policing levels in the area.

I agree with richpickings. If it was my car being trashed i'd be grateful for a chance to identify the culprits.

Let's just hope the person in question drops dead somehow, preferably painfully, and in tears of misery.
i don't have any particular view about whether the video link should or should not be allowed - but in my mind the quote above is totally unacceptable
