Primary Schools in Sydenham

Post by tomowen »

Hi

We're thinking of moving to Sydenham to the Venner Road/Byne Road/Tredown road area. We like the area a lot, however, I've been looking at primary schools in the area and it seems like the closest one to the streets we're looking at with a 'Good' or above rating is Alexandra Junior school and unfortunately it will be impossible to get in to as the majority of pupils (all but 4 last year) attended Alexandra Infant school and the catchment radius for the infant school was 0.28 miles last year!

Does anyone have any advice about primary schools in this area?

Thank you!
Tom

Hi there,
Yes you're right, you're very unlikely to get into Alexandra Infants. I personally think the junior school should be converted into a full primary.
Anyway, we live in your area and our son is in Reception at Kelvin Grove. It's not the closest but we're really happy with it. Children in our area also go to St Barts, Eliot Bank (though now out of catchment), and the Penge schools.
It's a shame there is nowhere nearer but I think we have a reasonable choice in Sydenham.
Hope you decide to move here, it's a nice little area.

Good luck!
