From the Met:
----------------
Sydenham Safer Neighbourhoods Team executed a warrant at an address in Chelsfield Gardens, SE26 today (27 June 2013).
At the address approximately 200 cannabis plants where found in various locations within the premises along with hydroponics.
Community intelligence led police to execute the warrant at approximately 11:15 hours this morning.
An adult male who was found at the address when police entered was arrested at the scene and is currently in custody at a South East London Police Station.
Police Sergeant Amanda Ritchie, Sydenham Safer Neighbourhoods Team: “When we arrived at the address it was clear that these premises were being specifically used to grow cannabis plants. The pipes and wires in the house had been specifically bypassed out to the garden area to ensure that the heat source could not be detected. We are committed to reducing offences relating to drug supply and I hope this shows local residents that we will act swiftly on any information that suggests that drug dealing is taking place."

Well done MET.
Congratulations when it is due.
Surprised such things happening in law abiding Sydenham.

Re: Cannabis Factory Raid ...
Why? There was a block of flats near where I used to live in (obviously lawless
) SE20, where a large hole was found in the roof. Turned out some guy had been growing cannabis up on the flat roof, and whether it was the weight of the equipment, or excess water that caused the hole I don't know.

Re: Cannabis Factory Raid ...
Most of these raids won't even get reported. There was a massive factory right across the road from me which was raided a few months back, police were standing guard at the front door for a couple of days before two large lorries eventually arrived which were loaded with hundreds of large plants and equipment including fans, heaters and lights. I gather the police helicopter can easily identify potential factories as the roof of such a place will always glow on the thermal imaging cameras they use. There was no report anywhere of what I witnessed, so Sydenham may not be as law abiding as you think Eagle.
