The murder of Samuel Guidera remains unsolved after over two years too.

How bizarre MrChives. In the past 12 months police in Lewisham have made about 1500 induvidual arrests for robbery. I'd hardly call that "doing nothing". I shan't bore you with more info at this stage...please engage your brain before writing nonsense.

I posted back in march that a young man was mugged at Sydenham station and looking at this appeal I noticed that it was on the same day, with only an hours difference. The person in question didn't report it to the police because he was too scared of them coming back after him. I don't know if it is the two same men, he didn't give a description but it's quite a coincidence. If they were the same men it was quite brave of them to mug two people in the same location within an hour. s

Brave's probably the wrong choice of word to describe a mugger

The Police are constantly bringing in street robbers from Lewisham Borough, they know who most of them are so its easy to ID them from descriptions. Police get every bit frustrated when CPS release them on bail to further offend. Please don't think the Police are not interested, in this area there are many street robbers who have been caught, it is stopping them from re-offending that's the biggest problem, and I don't know what the answer is to that, they are certainly not afraid of the Police anymore. Locking them up only takes them off the street for a while.

Yes Catwoman . Do not agree with you refering to violent criminals as brave.

Cannot understand why they are released on bail.

The police responded very quickly when my daughter was mugged and caught the offenders almost immediately. Getting them convicted proved much more difficult than I would have expected. The police were supportive and proactive throughout the whole process.

There's no need to be nasty is there?

You said "The police do nothing".

I pointed out that hundreds and hundreds of people were arrested for robberies in the past twelve months.

That is demonstrable proof, in itself, that your statement was wrong. Anecdotal cases were posted afterwards also demonstrating that you were wide of the mark.

So you are wrong. It's as simple as that.

You say the police "can't be bothered to prosecute" and that they have "quotas". Firstly, the police generally don't make the decision to prosecute or not..... the CPS do. Secondly, the idea that there are "quotas" is downright bizarre....what on earth gave you that idea? Do you think once a certain number of people are charged with a specific offence one month then they can't charge any more until the next month? What an odd notion.

If you want to have an informed debate about the failures of the police service or individual officer. Whether you want to talk about the effectiveness or otherwise of the police or discuss the various issues that affect crime rates then I'm more than happy to but I'd thank you to keep it civil. I appreciate how horrible it must be to be a victim of crime and not get justice - that doesn't justify taking out your frustrations on people in an obnoxious way.

(and, yes, I have been a victim of crime - on several occasions)

Bensonby I am sure you are correct.

The Police do their best but are handicapped by CPS and Judges who do not live in the real world.

Ok, shall I call it?

"WAH" (?)

I can't see any other possible reply...seeing as you are apparently unwilling or unable to post anything reasonable or actually engage in a sensible discussion.

Eagle , you are most certainly not .
There is room for all schools of thought on this forum and for vigorous debate but we do usually manage to do it in a civilised way .
It is curious that MrChives thinks the police condone, collide with or even encourage street robbery but that is his point of view and he is entitled to it. He is not entitled to hurl abuse at other members and I think he should be moderated with extreme prejudice.
I even wonder if he is local in the better sense of the word.
A very good morning
