Just seen on the london news Herne Hills markets have been open 9 months and now have waiting lists for spots. Cafes on the street are seeing 50% rise in profits on market days.Fantastic to hear Mary Portas having a real impact in the area! Do the Portas pilots talk to eachother to get ideas learn what's worked/ hasn't?

If you google Herne Hill market, you'll discover that it's actually run by a private company, City & Country Farmers' Markets, it having been chosen by Lambeth Council and the Herne Hill Forum.
I have no problem with that, and the good news is that they also run farmers markets in four local parks in Lewisham.
