Post by Eagle »

I have no wish to revisit the "feed the world" thread ensuing from Tim's last foray into the global housing shortage.
Going back to Eagle's question - I don't think enough is being done .
Purelake have presented Sydenham with a perfect notice board to post our comments on their recent performance.
If I hired a builder to make me a breakfast bar, then came home to find he had demolished my kitchen and built a 5 storey wardrobe that I didn't ask for, arguing that there was not much call for breakfast anyway, I would go pure radio rentals .
This is in effect what has happened and some of the recent debate, which I can only describe as high minded, has deflected from the real question which is when are Purelake going to put it right and honour their commitment to Sydenham . No if's no but's just do it.
Good afternoon

Thanks Nigel
So whilst they dither the sire remains an eye sore on beautiful Sydenham.

Surely the Council's Lawyers could just issue the required instruction to complete urgently.

If you read the link I posted, you will see that the most recently submitted plans are being challenged by Syd Soc and this is why work has stopped.

Rachel
Thank you , I did read the link and I support the Sydenham Society fully . I think they are right to challenge the shortcuts proposed and the liberties that Purelake tried to take.
The onus , however, remains on Purelake to present a compliant plan and get it built to everyone's satisfaction .
We all know that delay favours the Purelakes of this world and so..... The excellent work of Syd Soc not withstanding , we should pushing for answers and not putting our faith in process .
Possibly not angry villagers with torches yet but sooner that than the overly reasonable stance we seem to be taking .
Good evening
Nigel

Eagle - is there any way we can pin this problem on The Labour Party?

This amateur filming from Admin linked to here contains many ironies. I thought of it because it includes Gavin Stamp, 'Piloti' of Private Eye's conservation column, 'Nooks and Corners', and at 16 seconds you can hear Pat Trembath calling out to him. Is SydSoc again calling out to him, in our hour of need?

Fishcox - why should anyone try to pin this on the Labour Party?

Nigel - I'll spare you and others any further analysis of the economics - that sort of materialist approach to society is so last millennium.
