Just received from the Borough Commander ...
-------------------------------------------------------
As you know the Olympics are now upon us. The torch relay arrives in Lewisham on Monday (23.07.12) and the opening ceremony is next Friday (27.07.12).
The Olympic Games will be the biggest peacetime safety and security operation mounted by the Metropolitan Police Service.
Whilst officers from across the MPS will be utilised for aid requirements, local policing is still very much a priority
We have reviewed our Neighbourhood Policing Plan to achieve a minimum standard of one warranted police officer and two police community support officers on duty on each ward in the Borough.
Police Community Support Officers will not be used to police the Olympics but will remain on Lewisham Borough to provide visible policing.
We will continue to respond to emergency calls from the public for the duration of the Olympics
London won’t stop because the Olympics are on and we won’t stop policing in Lewisham, communities can feel rest assured that we will still be tackling crime and anti social behaviour in the Borough.
Chief Superintendent Jeremy Burton
Lewisham Borough Commander
G4S will not be patrolling our streets ...
Re: G4S will not be patrolling our streets ...
Am I reading between the lines correctly?
We can expect neighbourhood police teams in the borough to be reduced from three officers to just one for the duration of the games, with the support of community support officers. I wonder if this really is enough to achieve a minimum standard? I certainly hope so.

Officer Dibbles only equate to a qtr of a real policeman so expect the crime rate to sky rocket.michael wrote:Am I reading between the lines correctly?
