Post by safdirector »

Don't miss the fabulous Roald Dahl event this Saturday.

Dear Mr Dahl features seven fantastic extracts from Dahl's best-loved books including The BFG, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr Fox and Matilda. And there's some Revolting Rhymes too!

Staged by Jonathan Kaufman of Sydenham Arts Festival and Spontaneous Productions, six wonderful actors will bring to life some of Mr Dahl's most-loved characters.

The company is responsible for the wonderful Alice in Wonderland Tea-Party in 2010 and also the recent Happy Birthday Mr Dickens! (see website below for details)

Venue: Ken Kirkby Theatre, Forest Hill School, Dacres Rd (near Mayow Park)

Time: 4pm, Sat 14 July

Tickets: £6 (£4 concs inc children)

The show is suitable for all ages, especially children under 12, and the ticket price includes entry to Gareth P Jones - local musician and author - who'll be giving us his Meerkat Rap at 3.15pm.

A reminder about the family friendly "Double Bill" event this afternoon at Forest Hill School, Dacres Road, from 3.15pm.

The entertainment starts with Gareth P Jones who will provide an interactive musical introduction to his children’s books - taking in dragon detectives, murderous twins, family secrets, Ninja Meerkats and the occasional talking mushrooms and will include a live performance of the Ninja Meerkat Rap.

Immediately following on are readings from Roald Dahl by actors from Spontaneous Productions of wonderful extracts from all time favourites Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, The BFG, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, George’s Marvellous Medicine, The Witches and The Fantastic Mr Fox.

An inclusive ticket price for the Double Bill: £6/£4 concs. Something for all the family on a pretty miserable summer’s afternoon.

Tomorrow, Sunday at 3.30, is another family friendly event aimed at the younger members of the family being held at Sydenham School, Dartmouth Road from 3.30pm.

A Family Concert of music from the fairy tales presented by Harmony Sinfonia. Prepare for a musical journey through the exotic world of Aladdin, Hansel and Gretel, Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, Beauty and the Beast and explore the world of Harry Potter.

Come dressed as your favourite fairy tale character, bring your magic wand and be prepared to fall under the spell of some beautiful music.

Tickets: £8/£5 concs and £1 to those aged five and under.
