Hindwoods are promoting a new mixed development site in Sydenham.
The postcode says Kirkdale, the description says Lower Sydenham.
Anyone got any ideas where this is actually going to be built? I don't recognise the streetscape.

Re: Anyone know where this site is?
Looks like Worsley Bridge Road to me, judging by the mini-roundabout.
Re: Anyone know where this site is?
Is it the Old Dylon Factory ( now imported like everything else ) , or over road from it.
The old site produced employment , the new site will house people with no jobs

Re: Anyone know where this site is?
The plan isn't for housing. It's for restaurants, retail and a creche / day care facility. I don't know what all those upper floors will be used for, though. Office space, maybe?
Re: Anyone know where this site is?
Restuarants and retail .
Surely there will be enough retail at Bell Green and were they not having a KFC? Or is this more upmarket food establishments to get the trade coming from Beckenham direction?
Good to hear not housing.

Re: Anyone know where this site is?
It comes under the Bromley Planning Authority. I could only find this on a quick trawl of Lewisham & this one appears to have been withdrawn.
Sorry, but I'm working today, so no time to search further at the moment.

I thought it might be Bromley. Looked a bit posh for Lewisham.

Re: Anyone know where this site is?
Bromley tend not to approve High Rise so not surprised only 4 floors.
A trifle more up market than the flats at Sainsbury's but will still put pressure on same medical facilities etc
Syd Green Health Centre better get another couple of doctors.

Re: Anyone know where this site is?
Have they knocked down the Dylon factory?
I hope not, they make fantastic offices and are rather elegant buildings. They were created at a time when even the most mundane of buildings were built with an eye for aesthetics, that the architecture was an important part of the brand and helped give the area a sense of pride.
It looked like it was restored recently too.

Re: Anyone know where this site is?
I am sure Dylon used to be in Sydenham Road and moved to site in pictures about 30 or 40 years ago.
Does anyone else recall the older factory.

Re: Anyone know where this site is?
I thought it was in Willow way? Or was that another type of factory?

I know there were a number of small units in WW but was not thinking of there. Down Sydenham Rd , near Kent House Road , on same side of road.

It was built in the 1930's and was/is apparently locally listed. I would make fantastic apartments, I hope they keep the signage.
I wonder if this building will attract the same sense of preservation as the Woodman?

It's a great building. We need more building to promote jobs in the area. In the above report it says that the proposed new building is of exceptionally high quality. I don't think it is, it look dull. If this is knocked down, along with the wonderful building in Ladywell, a whole period of fantastic architecture is quickly being wiped out from existence. Just like the Firestone Building, torn down and replaced by total crap.
As you can tell, it pisses me off.

I absolutely agree with you, Lee, this is very sad indeed. The site looks brilliant in your top photo above. What an absolute tragedy this will be.
