The Kirkdale Village organisation is a voluntary group working to improve a neglected part of SE26 and to unify the traders and residents in the shopping parade (Kirkdale) and surrounding area (Kirkdale Village). Last year we put on some exciting events to strengthen the community and build social capital. These included film and theatre nights, a street party and a Christmas Pop-Up incorporating some 50 workshops. We now have funding for a street beautification project involving planters, bike stands, a street art competition and signage. We are seeking volunteers to assist with this, as well as with general admin, fundraising, gardening, event-planning, publicity and, indeed, anything else a volunteer might have an interest in! In return, volunteers will meet some brilliant new people and form useful new alliances and networks.
