Weekend car repair

Post by norwich_girl »

My car won't start, and I am pretty sure the battery is completely flat. Does anyone know of a reasonably priced garage that opens on saturday and will do a call out to replace the battery for me? I found a company in North London that could do it, but they don't cover SE26. Thanks!

the battery is flat for a reason. Your alternator (charging unit) is probably at fault. A push-start would get you to Dartmouth Road Service Station at 180(ish) Dartmouth Road.

This garage is very good. ("Buy cheap, buy twice" is one of my favourite engineering sayings)

I live a few doors away from the garage so PM me if you want some additional help

Carzone at 56 Sydenham Road (the High Street) has a repair shop around the back. I don't know if they repair off-site, but I've always found them to be cheap and helpful.

I offered Carzone a tenner over the top of the price of a battery and they brought a battery round and fitted it outside my flat when the snow was on the ground last winter. They also tested the alternator for no extra charge. I was more than happy with their service.

Thanks very much for the suggestions - and particular thanks to Alib for your kind offer of further help! I will try Car zone first, fingers crossed it is just the battery is old rather than anything more complicated (and expensive!). :D
