Well that week went well with our signal loud and clear accross Sydenham. Clare and Ann are on again tonight between 7pm-9pm.
Tonight’s programme deals with one of the most, if not the most, important developments for Sydenham + Forest Hill for many years: the East London Line has finally arrived.
It is providing access to a part of London previously difficult for us south Londoners to get to quickly and easily, but what are the other benefits, and are there any problems with it.
Listen to a variety of guests talking about the plusses and the minuses and whether it’s a great development for the area, or just a quicker way to get to work in Docklands.
We will also hear the most up-to-date news on the Sydenham Road re-furbishment plans and what is happening about outside the station as well as inside with the aim to brighten up Station Approach.
Our guests are:
: Julie Dixon, Head of Marketing + Stakeholder Relations for
Tfl London Rail:
: Alan Smith, Deputy Mayor and cabinet member for transport + regeneration
: Ilse Towler, Sydenham Society member and spokesperson on transport
: Richard Hibbert, chair of the Forest Hill Society
: Tim Lund: local activist, and former chairman of the Sydenham Society
: Steve Grindlay: Sydenham’s historian who will tell us if it all started with the railway coming to this area……. over 150 years ago!!
We will be telling you all about the events coming up as part of the Sydenham Arts Festival, and other many places to go things to do in this part of London; we’ll have some music, a gardening tip, poems for summer, and even a recipe for a mouth-watering summer dessert!
Tomorrow night betwen 7pm-8pm on Simon and Ian's show we will be discussing the proposed withdrawal of creche facilities at the Kirkdale centre and the proposed closure of the Sydenham Library. Councillor Chris Best will be in studio and you can direct any questions to
