Is the Black 'n' Decker bore-hole on my forehead that obvious, Bag Lady?
Naturally, I was going to advise 'mrtimelover' to place two ads in the wanted section. One for a full length mirror to be closely followed by an ad seeking an old neck-tie.
This would easily facilitate any hijinks that are a direct result of 'older' men who've realised they're not cut out for martial arts.
My advice would set him up with all the tools he needs to play Karate Kid 1, 2 and 3 in his bedroom.
However...
I'm getting a bit tired of constantly being booted off local area forums due to relentlessly arsing about. So I thought I'd exercise a little restraint so as not to get slung off here.
Hope that helps.

Or you could try Krav Maga, easy to learn apparently and very effective, there's a class run in Tulse Hill:

There's also another club who I believe is run by the same people on No.15 Davids road, Forest Hill.
Sorry, but I don't have any Tel.No's for either.
Hi there just to update you if you are still looking for us! We have a club based in Sydenham. Please visit www.seishin-juku.co.uk for more information.
Kind regards

I would also recommend this group (Thai / kickbox) led by Henderson in East Dulwich.
There's a beginners class that you are not forced to move up from if you do not wish to or feel ready for it and a more advanced high-fitness dominated class. He also periodically teaches a street defence class. Not formally though so one here then a break and another there.
There's a mix of sexes there, not all guys battering each other like some other Thai oriented clubs:

There's karate at Anerley Town Hall, next to Sydenham...and he specialises in nunchucks.
