Royal Mail deliveries on Kirkdale

Post by Fetoomsh »

I have been waiting over a week for a couple of things now. I have been delivered mail for the same number but the next street down.

Is anybody else having problems?

We have had similar problems on Mount Ash Road.

We had a delivery on Wednesday 23/11 or Thursday 24/11 - not sure which - and nothng for the rest of the week.

We then had 23 items delivered on Monday 28/11 - that's 23 items to one house, not the whole of the street - nothing on the Tuesday, 13 items on Wednesday 30th, 4 on Thursday 1st and nothing since then. I have a subscription to a football magazine which usually comes on a Friday, Saturday at the latest, when 'we' have a home game, but It hasn't come this week so they've obviously not delivered in the last couple of days.

As you can see, we have been keeping a record of the deliveries and our neighbours along the road, as fed up as we are, have also been keeping count.

We have made a complaint to Royal Mail but haven't received a reply as yet. We suggest you do the same.

I've had some quite important mail disappear- stuff that could be used for identity theft.

Would you mind letting me know who you complained to? I have been delivering mail to Charlecote, Mount Ash and others that gets put through my door.

You may as well shout at your mirror- no offence.

No offence taken, but if there is a reason why someone who asks how to complain then says it is pointless when given the information, it completely escapes me!

Complaining to Royal Mail itself is the necessary first step. If you are dissatisfied with their response you can take it to the next stage, which I think is a complaint to Ofcom.

You do have to go through these stages - or you could just shout at a mirror...

I'm in Lower Sydenham and live in a block of flats. I've noticed that the postman doesn't go to the flats everyday. I've been waiting at the bus stop outside and have seen postie walk right past the flats - and I can't believe there isn't at least one letter for someone in 20+ flats!

I hear there is a staff shortage at our delivery centre and instead of recruiting the existing workforce is being asked to work longer hours. Hardly a recipe for job satisfaction or reliability.

Thankfully we have a postman that always goes the extra mile. Reading the stories above or overhearing what is said when I visit the FH delivery centre makes me appreciate him all the more and fear that he will give up/be moved.

Another de-nationalisation disaster?

We have now e-mailed Moya Greene, the Chief Executive of Royal Mail with our complaint, and have sent a copy to Jim Dowd.

Her e-mail address is moya.greene@royalmail.com

Just to add. It might have changed now but as regards the Forest Hill sorting office, they didn't answer their phone at Christmas as too busy, so bertter to go in or rebook failed deliveries via their website. In the past, the phone would be answered automatically, so one is then paying for the call but left on hold until it rang out and disconnected itself. Hopefully it's changed now...
