We are there every so often. How very sad. It's always seemed reasonably busy

Blimey. Sydenham High Street is like a reverse-gentrification wormhole!!
Re: On The Hoof for sale
It's being sold as a profitable going concern so maybe it's being sold for personal rather than business reasons and will continue as a cafe / bistro.

I think you've hit the nail on the head here.monkeyarms wrote:Blimey. Sydenham High Street is like a reverse-gentrification wormhole!!

On The Hoof for sale
A bistro with a net profit of c£50,000 being sold as a going concern is surely not evidence of reverse gentrification.parker wrote:I think you've hit the nail on the head here.monkeyarms wrote:Blimey. Sydenham High Street is like a reverse-gentrification wormhole!!

If it was a chicken shop, nail bar or cover up drug den like most of the rest of the high street it probably wouldn't be closing down.biscuitman1978 wrote:A bistro with a net profit of c£50,000 being sold as a going concern is surely not evidence of reverse gentrification.parker wrote:I think you've hit the nail on the head here.monkeyarms wrote:Blimey. On The Hoof for sale
It's not closing down. They are looking for someone to buy the business to run as a going concern.parker wrote:If it was a chicken shop, nail bar or cover up drug den like most of the rest of the high street it probably wouldn't be closing down.

There could be any number of reasons. Many of them not related to the viability of the business. I know that the bistro was a dream of the owners realised after a long time. Perhaps the reality of running a bistro open for 3 meals 7 days a week did not match the dream?angela53 wrote:I wonder why ???

Any number of reasons
Re: On The Hoof for sale
Testing the water would be my bet to see if anyone's interested at the asking price.
Re: On The Hoof for sale
Is the station cafe remaining?

Re: On The Hoof for sale
When asked a few days ago the staff did not think they were closing. It looked as if it was being offered as a going concern.
