outside parking - OK or a foolish gamble

Post by solon1972 »

Hello all

just upgraded my car from a boxy hatchback to a more sporty number...in your views will the usual London front of house street parking be OK (Im on a residential Sydenham street) or should I be panicking and looking for rentable garages ASAP?

not worried about theft - more about vandalism

Perhaps ask your neighbours about any "activity" (or possibly the police might help?). Just wondering how much of an excess you have on your insurance, since typically there'd be no third party to claim from. Ins policies are generally cheaper if increasing one's excess, but might be something worth avoiding pro tem until you find out what's what, though you've probably already upgraded your policy. It's a numbers game really, re how much you stand to lose, what you consider the risks to be and whether you have a guaranteed no-claims policy, or one where your premiums will be much greater in the event of a claim, compared with what you'll pay for garaging.

Sorry not much help, but it's something you need to be happy with yourself given the relative costs and peace of mind.
