Some very interesting plans were yesterday released by TFL for consultation. For once it looks like two incredibly dangerous junctions in London are going to be made properly safe for people on foot and on bikes. Details here:
If you use either of these junctions or just have a general interest in improving the public realm in London, please respond to the consultation (in the link above).
I don't cycle, mainly because I feel unsafe.
I have always said that cars etc should be separated by a raised ridge of some sort, it's not like bikes take up much width is it?
I'm sure "powers that be" if they made the effort could make it a reality.
Then I will "get on my bike" as I'm sure many others would too.
Hi Annie - I think your attitude towards cycling is pretty common. Most people don't want to mix with heavy traffic and in the examples above (Oval and Vauxhall) that is exactly what they are being asked to do.
I hope you can see from the plans that we are finally going to get some proper segregated bike paths right in the centre of London. So a major improvement on what we have now. Only a start of course...
Would be great if you could take the time to offer some supportive comments on the consultation.
