Getting the Basic Right
• Deal with residents’ concerns about litter and rubbish, improve street cleaning and estate caretaking and fix broken lights.
• Look at reducing the number of fast food leaflets delivered through our doors every week.
• Introduce a free furniture collection service across the borough to put an end to fly tipping.
• Boost Lewisham’s shockingly low recycling levels by offering recycle bags to those who live in flats and high rise apartments where there is no immediate access to recycle bins.
• Issue an Article 4 directive borough wide. Betting shops, pawn brokers and pay day loan companies are sucking the life out of our borough which has some of the most deprived wards in Britain. I want to restrict the opening of these establishments
• Create a Council atmosphere that's open to new ideas and drops the mantra of this Council is always right. Residents deserve to be protected and supported by their local authority. That will be my starting point.
• Two open question time public meetings a year. No rules no procedures just open questions with open answers. Transparency not politics.
