... Lovely in Mayow Park today. It's a really nice space and looking good on this sunny afternoon BUT it would be great if the tennis courts could be re-surfaced. Once of the courts is almost unplayable (although the uneven bounce is good for the reflexes if not the achilles tendon) but I think it would be a really good investment for a nice re-surface for the summer.
I notice, however, that work is being done on the pavilion so hopefully a cafe will feature soon on what is one of my favourite small parks in the area.

They completed the two courts in Wells Park late last year I believe.

Re: new balls please ...
The pavilion is indeed on its way, and we hope soon to be able to say who has been awarded the franchise to operate it. There is a meeting for the Friends of Mayow Park tomorrow evening, 7.00 - 8.30 pm, at the Dacres Wood Nature Reserve Field Centre, at which representatives from LB Lewisham and Glendale will give an update, hopefully with this news.
I have also spoken to the coach from Sydenham Lawn Tennis club, who gives lessons in Sydenham Wells Park, about doing something in Mayow Park, and hopefully he has been in contact with the sports development person at Glendale. Why not come along tomorrow and find out more, offer more of your thoughts?

Re: new balls please ...
the courts in Mayow Park have recently been pressure washed - so should be a bit better than a couple of months ago.
I do agree that ideally they need resurfacing though.

I did raise this at the FOMP meeting last night. Obviously it costs money. Hopefully one day ... it's not impossible. I'm sure many of us never thought the pavilion would reopen!

The paths in the park in general need some maintenance too. Especially the Mayow Road entrance by De Frene Road.
Great park though. Just mentioning it.

the state of the paths comes up year after year at the FOMP(Friends Of Mayow Park) AGM, so I'm reliably informed, but as ever it's all about money, and not having enough of it to do everything you want.
