CAPITAL CLEAN UP

Post by leenewham »

I can't believe this is sponsored by McDonalds, but anyway, seems like a good idea:

Capital Clean-up is a partnership campaign led by the Mayor of London as part of his Team London volunteering programme to help Londoners green and clean our city through community engagement and participation.

Capital Clean-up, in partnership with McDonald's, is calling on charities, community groups and local businesses to apply for grants of up to £500, or a special litter picking clean-up kit, to bring volunteers together in rubbish clearing events to create cleaner, greener, and safer local environments.

From litter-picking in a Havering park, to graffiti removal in Merton or a new garden outside a Lambeth school, Capital Clean-up, now in its sixth year, has already helped thousands of Londoners to get together and hold clean-up events to smarten up their neighbourhood. What will you do?

All we ask is that you identify a spot that needs a little love and attention and tell us how you intend to improve it and keep it looking great! Application forms are below. Please do read the guidance note in advance, and check out our Community Clean-up Toolkit for advice on how to run an event.

Community Clean-up Kits!

We are offering 60 clean-up kits to community groups across London to give communities the tools they need to get local residents involved and help make a difference. Each one includes litter pickers, tabards, bin bags and a £50 voucher to help provide new planting and painting, and create litter and graffiti free streets and parks.
