I was wondering if there was any more followup to this past the meeting with the licensing sergeant. I am looking to rent in the area- ie peak hill avenue or peak hill gdns at moment, and am wondering if this is an ongoing regular problem and the extent of the noise. Many thanks for any advice

Hi there,

I'm new to the Forum as I'm thinking of moving from Forest Hill to Peak Hill Avenue. I've just seen threads about Cobbs nightclub, sounds pretty full on! I'm looking at moving to the end of Peak Hill Avenue closest to Kirkdale on the northern side of the street, which is probably the most affected area? Any advice on this one would be extremely helpful as I don't know the area as well as my patch in FH and am moving from a noise situation at the moment.
Many thanks

Well, It's 5.25am and I after living at the bottom of Westwood Hill for over a year, I have just called 101 to complain about the noise and to see if someone local can come out and send away a group that were having a party around their car on the pavement! They said it would take a hour and I'm hoping everyone will be gone by then.

I'm not sure if its particularly noisy today, but this is the first time I've heard it and all the windows at the front of my house are shut. There seem to be people milling everywhere - eating food and posing for pictures! Unfortunately, I live behind a bus stop where groups are also waiting and shouting.

I'd hate to see another London club get shut down as I actually work in the clubbing industry, but I also don't want to see my local area being forced to put up with this. The clubs I work in have very strict rules about people leaving quietly and spend a lot of time making sure this happens - Maybe the club could hire people to make sure that happens here... I'm not sure, but I'm pretty tired now and am not in the mood for coming up with ideas to shut them up :(

I don't get how they are allowed to park absolutely everywhere on the nice new pavements... :?

Nothing but sympathy - did you get a response and did it help ?
I too cannot understand how as a country we fail to enforce our own rules ie intrusive noise at such an unreasonable hour and parking on the pavements .
I agree there is nothing inherent about having a club that means nuisance like that has to follow . Truth is probably that as an authority Lewisham can ill-afford to employ enough enforcers but I have to say I have called their envirocrime number about three times after the same rats-nest of people blasted my neighbourhood into the small hours , and their response was excellent and effective . I would encourage anyone to use the number - if nothing else it alerts them to pockets of nuisance and makes it easier for any neighbour who calls in to complain .
I hope you get results and some respite from this anti-social and unpleasant behaviour .
Good evening
Nigel
