Sydenham Road Improvements
I agree about the lack of trees.
There should be some around the kirkdale book shop area and maybe a few more around the greyhound/kirkdale bit.
I would be happy to water and care for them and the roundabout too for that matter.
Used to sneak some flowers into the old one before they put the current monstrosity in.
Could take guerrilla gardening to a new level...tree planting

I asked Lewisham Council about the work that I understood was going ahead (at least before the election) on the part of Sydenham Road from Mayow Road down to Kent House Road.
I got this in reply.
Sydenham improvements [from Mayow Road to Kent House Road]: not as part of works going out to tender, but potentially in the future - subject to funding
Fingers crossed. Did I get it wrong, I thought this was agreed? At the very least can we take away the broken barriers and replace the bins which have been totally destroyed by traffic hitting them such as the one outside of Tratorria and fix broken pavements? I'm sure the Dolphin, Tratorria, Garam Masala, and others would like to be part of the the new 'regeneration scheme'.

Sydenham high road
Does that mean the improvement work will not benefit the part from Mayow road to Bell Green? It seems this part of the high road is the one in need of the biggest improvement.
It was never going to be extended to Bell Green, only as far as Kent House Road. Now it seems as if that is under threat.
The improvements are still going ahead up to Mayow Road, but that is not starting until next year, later than originally thought.
Bell Green will benefit from two new developments, one of which is starting soon. And don't forget the improvements to Home Park:

Ronski, ian.plowright@lewisham.org.uk , is one of the officers involved in the regen scheme.
greenscene@lewisham.gov.uk are involved in planting trees in residential streets. I intend to email them too.
Also, you can request a tree outside your house from them, if you want.

I found a clip of the proposals on Youtube (it's been on there for 3 months and only had 180 hits so I assume it can't have already been posted on here).

We had a written update at the last Sydenham Assembly on Saturday 12 June. Funding has now been received from TfL for the Phase Two (detailed design and tender) stage of the project. Commissioning of the required specialist consultants for Phase Two has now been completed and these resources are now in place. A fully resourced design team is now working on the project and the detailed design will be completed by October of this year. Tender will then commence and will be followed with an announcement the intended start of works and an outline programme for construction. So I hope the work will be underway at the start of 2011.
Minor changes to the design have been made following discussion with TfL Buses and they are supportive of the overall design.
A specialist consultant is assisting with the obtaining of TfL Traffic Signals and Control approvals for the new designs. Once TfL Signals / Traffic Control have given this approval, the final designs will be published on the LBL Sydenham website and in newsletters.
Please come along to People’s Day on Saturday 10 July as there will be a stand for the Sydenham Road scheme that will provide up to date information on the design. Two LBL personnel (Andy Frazer and Bill Tarplett) will be present to discuss aspects of the scheme. Andy will also be attending the next Sydenham Asemmbly on Saturday 11 September to go through the final designs. Negotiations are ongoing with Network Rail for the transfer of the ownership of Station Approach to Lewisham.
