Catscratch is right; they were published in 2005 by the London Topographical Society, in a limited edition to members only. They do occasionally come up for sale; a copy sold for £135 some months ago.
Thanks - I think £135 is a bit steep even for something like this! I was thinking that it would be good to sell individual maps (e.g. of Upper Sydenham) at a much lower price rather like you can buy the old Ordinance Survey maps of the area. Making copies available only to LTS members on a limited basis doesn't quite seem the same as proper publishing to me!
Steve mentioned this organisation. For anyone interested enough to be on this thread, joining must be the best value for money you'll get for £20 a year. Each year they send out a publication - this year's arrived this morning, with pages of illustrations of Londoners enjoying themselves - theatres, street musicians. Last year (when I joined) it was an Edwardian A-Z of London - reproductions of what was the leading street atlas before the A-Z, plus many other London maps from that time. I don't know, but I can imagine the book Steve talks of going for £135 is a previous year's offering, so it could prove a good investment too. Here's their website http://www.topsoc.org/join.htm
Well that's embarrassing. That'll teach me to check if there's a second page to a thread before I reply to a question, as my answer was giving information that had been superceeded by other replies.
I saw the reference to the book some time ago on the excellent website www.parishregister.com I believe they were selling CDs of extracts of the book under licence from the London Metropolitan Archives. I've e-mailed the site as I can no longer find the CD in their online shop, but sadly the person who runs it is recovering from a heart attack at the moment so it might be a while before they get back to me.
