A few less inflammatory remarks comments on this forum wouldnt go amiss. It seems to me that some people love winding this all up Daily Mail style to a fever pitch of discontentment. Its probably affecting fairly few directly. I am a near resident, within sight and earshot but I for one couldn't care less about their TVs etc. Stirring about business going downhill or house prices when everyone knows this is a temporary situation, while it may be meant 'sympathetically' seems to me to be done cynically with a view to raising tensions. The council have set out a timetable, can we wait for that and calm down now?
Interesting how people get very emotional about this topic. However, I for one would not want a bunch of nomadic travellers camped on my lawn when they don't adhere to the conventions of civilisation. The mess in that place is a disgrace and the local residents should not have to put up with it, quite apart from the potential rodent hazard, rubbish, increased crime etc. A friend of mine who frequents the Golden Lion said the Police visited the pub to warn about break ins etc

No I am not suggesting that anyone commit homoicide by axing them to death or use water cannon to clear the car park for that matter. That would represent inappropriate reactions.

I mentioned axe murderers in the Golden Lion context because the police did nothing to find the axe murderer who killed Daniel Morgan in 1987 in the car park of the errrr Golden Lion.
Lewisham, many thanks for your efforts in lodging the necessary paperwork and keeping us informed of progress. Now that they have left on their own accord, can you let us know when to expect the height railings to be installed to prevent future groups using the site?
Full marks to LB lewisham for the updates and trying to deal with it urgently - now they have left of their own accord we might at least be spared the cost of bailiffs . I agree with Eagle , the clean up cost will be significant . Without provocation they have left us with a bloody mess and more expense for the council .
I started this with no sympathy and have now reached minus sympathy .
Great to see the back of them and I do hope the car park is fitted with a height bar asap to stop this in future .
A very good evening
Nigel
Pity the poor operatives who have to clear up the mess - and the Council Tax payers who will foot the bill whilst seeing their own services being cut back.
One of the local retailers tells me that the order banning them from Girton Road is not for a "one off" invasion but a permanent ban. I hope this is true.
By the way, word on the street is they haven't gone very far -they have fetched up on the old bowling green/tennis court site next to the Livesey Hall
