Hi guys!
https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.42961 ... eWKixQ!2e0 (google street view of property in question)
Not sure if anyone has ever mentioned anything on here; I can not find anything related!
There's a building at the very end of Dillwyn Close, Lower Sydenham, which has not been used for approx 6 years - give or take a year or two.
I have lived round here for 8 years and I have seen this place just sitting idle ever since.
I believe it was once a care residential home.
Why is it no longer used? Anyone know any information about? Any future plans for it's usage? Just curious why Lewisham borough would let a property of a great size to rot and not gain any income rent from it?
Thank you for any info.
David

Re: Unused Building - Dillwyn Close, SE26
The building is managed by SLAM - South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation and was closed in 2010 following a public consultation. Below is the link to the report received by Lewisham's Healthier Communities Select Committee on the 28 July 2010 -
http://councilmeetings.lewisham.gov.uk/ ... %20PDF.pdf
Here are a couple of extracts -
The Premises
The Trust is currently exploring options for alternative options for the building. It is
hoped that this facility can be used by another service managed by the Trust.
On the 22nd February 2010, the Older Adults Directorate of the South London and
Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) led a Public Consultation on a proposal
to close the Dillwyn Continuing Care Unit in Sydenham, and to re-organise the
remaining 2 Units that operate in the borough so that bed capacity is reduced from
44 places to 28. The consultation closed on 21st June 2010 and was reviewed by the
South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust Board of Directors at its meeting
on the 29th June 2010.
I have asked the Council to make enquires regarding the proposals by SLAM to bring the building back into use.

Thank you ever so much for that useful information. Please revert if the council get back to you with their response.

What about this place located at 'The Haven' in Springfield Road in upper Sydenham? Lots of buildings. It's been empty for years. Who owns it? What is going to happen to it? What a waste.
