Sydenham Artisan Market - Sat 12 July 2014

Post by broken_shaman »

Sydenham Artisan market is back and it's the middle of the Arts Festival and the start of The Arts Trail, so hopefully there will be plenty of people out and about, looking at Art and supporting local entrepreneurs.

Please come and support the market and the traders. Even small sales can make a difference, but a chat is just as welcome.

The market is back in Venner Square and Queensthorpe Square and they both have different stalls on display, so worth visiting both.

11-5pm.

We have a range of traders on Venner Square today - Aloe Vera products, hand made jewellery, cards, photos, crafts, plants, books and some food stalls. We are short of a couple of traders who are at People's Day today. Angie has a pitch on Queensthorpe Square and SAF have Till the Boys Come Home part 2 at Queensthorpe later this afternoon. Plenty going on so please support the high street.

I thought it would be a bit more food focused. There was a bread stall - but surely to bring more customers you need to smell food being cooked, and cheese and meats sold there. They used to do that but I went there today and I didn't fancy buying a random hat.

Where's all the 'artisan' food type stuff?

The artisan food stuff has either gone to the Horniman because they have a weekly market where people attend and buy things or taken the opportunity to go to People's Day, for similar reasons.

I took £10 today in a single trade

I went last month and was very impressed, but was disappointed with this month's showing - the stalls I'd intended to buy from weren't there, so I went to Bromley instead. I'd wondered if some stall-holders were on holiday, but apparently that's not the case.

If there's one thing that's more depressing that standing on a stall for an entire day to make a loss of £25, it's popping in here to get told how disappointing your stall is. :|
