Falkor, you are famous for your long lists!
#1
Right way round.
#2
Right way round.
W.C. Marshall's "Dancing Girl with Tambourine" gives the right orientation.
South transept, round the base of the Gutenburg Monument, south nave.
3. Why do you believe this was taken at the Crystal Palace? I seem to remember you posting it before.
4. The Sheffield Court at the Great Exhibition 1851, the website I saw this on makes that clear. These regional trade courts must have been the genesis of the Industrial Courts at Sydenham.
5.
Right way round, as seen in the title on the pedestal, a clearer version of the one from the Guildhall Library, that I posted on "A Walk through the nave" and again the south west corner of the English and German Sculpture Court." For sale by Charles Schwartz iphotocentral.com
6.
Right way round. Knowing the sculpture has it's uses. This is such a mixture of Italian and German work, which was displayed seperately from the start, that it must have been taken before the opening of the Palace, and could have been anywhere in the building. For sale by Charles Schwartz iphotocentral.com
7.
Shakespeare by Roubilliac, with the "Old World display behind him. He is just visible in image 2. For sale by Charles Schwartz iphotocentral.com
8. From the Guildhall Library, and the same as image 5. Is this a wind up?
9. Delamotte, taken during the construction of the building, there is no wall in the distance! The statues are on packing cases and could be anywhere. from the Metropolitan Museum website, but also in the Chup Friemert reprint of the Delamotte 1854 photographs.
10. Renaissance Court. I posted a Delamotte image of this corner in the Renaissance Court section of the "walk through the nave thread." stereographica.com
11. cast 33* Try looking it up in the handbooks. The nationality of the sculptor will give you as much clue to it's location as it would me. It's not classical so that just leaves the Modern Sculpture. stereographica.com
I just want you to see that I am working from the same sources availiable to you, maybe fewer.
[The medal awarded for this piece at the Great Exhibition was recently sold as part of the Allen collection of Crystal Palace medals.]
12. This is outside the Stationery Court. I posted a similar view in the "walk through the nave" thread. stereographica.com
13. "Distribution of Prizes at the Crystal Palace to the Rifle brigade on Saturday last." It's a very big space. could it be anywhere but the centre transept? Have you seen the Nostagia Series postcard that shows an arch either side?

But I knew you could handle it! Not like Chris Doran... he seems to struggle. Personally, I don't need to use any brain power for this kind of stuff when it's a subject I know well, ie. you know the Crystal Palace/statues very well. Other people can find this sort of thing rather difficult.Falkor, you are famous for your long lists!
Well spotted! Last night, I had to reverse 2 images from the Greek gallery; this problem is very annoying.Right way round.
I thought that monument was centre transept based? They moved it to south? Speaking of south, what's this I hear about a model of the Chinese junk and a painting Has it got anything to do with:South transept, round the base of the Gutenburg Monument, south nave.
I not posted that before, but it was in with a cp batch. Could it be anything to do with Queen's Apartments/Picture Gallery? Same goes for some of those supposed Birmingham Court shots.3. Why do you believe this was taken at the Crystal Palace? I seem to remember you posting it before.
That's what I needed clarifying (1851 or 1854); cheers!4. The Sheffield Court at the Great Exhibition 1851, the website I saw this on makes that clear.
I woudn't dare! With so much info being exchanged, I sometimes fail to clock certain things and can make mistakes. Please forgive me.8. From the Guildhall Library, and the same as image 5. Is this a wind up?
We might be able to narrow that down...9. Delamotte, taken during the construction of the building, there is no wall in the distance! The statues are on packing cases and could be anywhere.
Sorry, I'm still not 100% familiar with that court yet, but I'm working on it in my mind.10. Renaissance Court. I posted a Delamotte image of this corner in the Renaissance Court section of the "walk through the nave thread." stereographica.com
You're being too modest; you obviously have access to a lot more sources than I. Where did you get the Irish Vestibule pic from? Give me give me both Ebay user IDs so I can harrass them for a higher-res scan! What sources do these pics come from?I just want you to see that I am working from the same sources availiable to you, maybe fewer.
Again, if you ever feel I'm demanding information where it isn't duly deserved, just say to me "No, you can't have it, you naughty man! I'm not telling you!!" Then I'll understand. Or just make up some BS about some respectable gentleman gave you an illegal copy and you can't reveal his identity. Or, "I'll find out later and let you know". That is much better than ignoring someone. I'm sorry if I sound so demanding sometimes. Just tell me how you feel, ie. overwhelmed. I know I can be over-powering, just not always aware of it.
I haven't seen that series. I think I've figured it out; is it the seldom seen junction of the Centre Transept and Nave? Speaking of Centre Transept, what the hell is the Samuel Philip's book going on about with regards to a Canadian Court, Library and Reading Room in that area? I thought the Library was on the first floor.13. "Distribution of Prizes at the Crystal Palace to the Rifle brigade on Saturday last." It's a very big space. could it be anywhere but the centre transept? Have you seen the Nostagia Series postcard that shows an arch either side?

I bought both from ebay before scanning them.
