FREE PIANO

Post by leenewham »

How about this for Sydenham?

Perhaps get locals artists to paint it to it also acts as marketing for the Sydenham Arts Festival?

May be a better/easier idea to get it from the piano store in kirkdale (between that's amore and Wooster & stock) which permanently has a "free pianos" sign outside of it! (Unsure how workable it would be)
Be a great addition to the station approach especially if market spreads there with a bit of live music to accompany..

Worth me contacting SEE3 who have organised one at Forest Hill fStation or the next month or so?!

Answers on a postcard.

Ps: I have no musical bones in my body

You just need a van and a few people to lift.
And most importantly somewhere to put it. If you need somewhere to keep it until you find a good spot, can I suggest you place it in the subway at Forest Hill station, which is now nice and dry  We will look after it for you!

More seriously the CAB might allow you to place it outside there shop, under the large shelter at Cobbs Corner. But an ideal location is on the raised platform beside Peddar, if you can get some protection from the elements. Perhaps get one of these, and ask Peddar to uncover it in good weather.

I can put you in touch with somebody who apparently specialised in painting street pianos for free!

My final piece of advice for the moment is to get a bike lock to attach it to some fencing. Not to prevent it being nicked (it wouldn't really stop somebody intent of taking it), but to discourage people doing something stupid while drunk - like pushing it over, or taking it for a joy ride. I'm hoping a basic lock will stop all but the most determined anti-social idiot.

There are a couple of free pianos at London St Pancras International . Nice to hear them being played.

What a good idea.
